Ultrasound Therapy

During your first visit, the therapist evaluates your condition, outlines therapy goals, and prepares your plan of care. Your therapy may include:

Strength Training • Physical Therapy  – to minimize physical disabilities, maximize mobility and restore normal movement. Our physical therapists work with patients on exercises to help regain strength, coordination and mobility and to reduce re-injuries. Other treatments, such as hot/cold packs, ultrasound, massage, etc. may be ordered to increase muscle flexibility and provide relief of muscle spasm and pain.
• Occupational Therapy  – to develop the necessary skills for patients to enjoy independent and fulfilling lives. Our occupational therapists work with patients to improve their abilities to perform activities of daily living, including self-care and home management. Custom splints and adaptive equipment can be provided when needed.
• Speech/Language Pathology – to restore and improve speech, articulation and swallowing. Other therapies may include cognitive redemption, computer-assisted therapy to enhance a patient’s cognitive skills and non-verbal communication.

Building on the foundation of our three core therapies, Santé offers the following adult specialty rehab programs:

Industrial Rehabilitation Program and Testing – Our Industrial Rehabilitation Case Manager plays a critical role in cost-effectively managing all aspects of treatment, from admission to return-to-work. Santé integrates those components critical to controlling direct and indirect costs from work-related injuries: job site analysis, acute rehabilitation, work hardening, work conditioning and return-to-work strategies. The Company offers different tests to assist employers in objectively managing injury-related costs, including post-employment/pre-placement and Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE).

Chronic Pain Management Program – Our  multidisciplinary program assists chronic pain patients to overcome their pain and resume a productive life. Disciplines include a rehabilitation physician, biofeedback, physical therapy, massage therapy, vocational counseling, spiritual counseling, nutritional counseling, and psychological services. Three intensity levels are available to meet the injured worker’s needs: Comprehensive, Modified, and Basic.

Women’s Health Program – Santé combines treatments and therapies ranging from physical therapy, exercise, supportive devices, relaxation techniques, biofeedback and education, to address the unique health issues facing women of all ages, from adolescence through senior years.

Peripheral Neuropathy Program – involves physical and occupational therapies and new FDA-approved technology to reduce chronic pain, improve the patient’s ability to walk, decrease fall frequency, improve wound healing and minimize amputation .

Sports Program – Our comprehensive training program supports a safe return to pre-injury sports performance for the athlete. Together with the therapist, Santé’s program addresses power, flexibility, balance, stabilization and coordination.

Fitness and Exercise Programs – allow former patients and others to exercise under the indirect supervision of knowledgeable therapy staff. A customized workout program is developed to improve fitness, strength and self-esteem. Our popular exercise program has helped individuals of all ages achieve their fitness goals using a balanced approach that fits their busy lifestyle.

Three Strikes and You’re NOT Out! A Santé patient story

Life certainly is different since that sunny day in August 2000. Running up the sidewalk steps outside the church, Susie S. tried to prevent her granddaughter from falling. Instead, Susie tripped, fell into an iron fence, and landed awkwardly on her right shoulder. The pain was excruciating and left her shoulder mangled. She lost most of her strength in the right arm and couldn’t lift it away from her body.

In October 2000, Susie had the first of her three surgeries to repair her torn rotator cuff. Even though she thought it was too soon, Susie started physical therapy as ordered by her doctor. Rip…the rotator cuff tore a second time!

Seven months later, she underwent her second surgery performed by the same surgeon. Once again, Susie began physical therapy. During the six months of therapy, she did not regain strength in her arm. The nightmare continued when the rotator cuff tore once more.

Upset and angry, Susie sought out the opinion of a second surgeon…she did not want the same outcome a third time! In April 2002, Susie had her third surgery. Unlike her previous experiences, she began passive exercises in a motion chair for three weeks. Once the physician determined that

the rotator cuff tendon had healed sufficiently, Susie started occupational therapy with a new rehab company in May, Santé Rehabilitation. The goal was to break up the scar tissue from the previous surgeries with passive exercises and then progress to more strenuous exercises to help her regain upper body and arm strength.

Susie works with her occupational therapist three times a week and does exercises at home. Over time, the exercise regimen has become more rigorous. “My therapist is so positive. Even when I have a plateau in my progress, her “can do” attitude and different approaches keep me going! Unlike my previous experiences before Santé, my “age” is not an issue!” says Susie.

Even though Susie has had to make a few changes to her lifestyle, she has not given in to her injury. As Director and music teacher of a Parents Day-Out program, she looks forward to the day when she can lift her right arm as she sing songs and does finger plays with the children.
